In a scenario where customer satisfaction is the utmost priority, the DVLA has enabled an easy process to hire vehicle in the U.K. This process is not only easy to implement for the customers but also enables one to ensure complete safety and security of their data.

Hiring from Another Company

Although, this process does not involve much of a hassle, it is possible that when an individual goes on to collect a vehicle from a hire company, they may ask only for one’s photo card licence or pre-1998 paper licence. But, it is possible that they may also want to check whether the concerned person has any penalty points or they may ask for a code so that they can check the person’s licence online or its printout.

Getting a Code

Getting a code is not a tedious task. One can opt to go online to obtain a code that is required by the hire company. Make sure to provide the same before it expires after 21 days from the date of obtaining the same. The code can also be used only once and this has been done simply to protect one’s privacy. One can generate up to 15 active check codes at any given time

To obtain a code, one is required to follow a few simple steps:

  • Go to ‘View Driving Licence’.
  • Enter driver number and postcode, as they appear on your driving licence, and your National Insurance number.
  • Click on the ‘Share your licence information’ tab – then the ‘Create a code’ button.
  • You will now be shown a code that you can pass on to your hire company. You’ll also have the option to print out your licence information.

If this process seems to be full of hassle and tiring, the DVLA representatives can assist you with better and comprehensive plan to generate the same. In case you would like to speak to one of our representatives, contact the DVLA customer care number 0844 241 5511.
